What you'll do:

• General hardware design, including schematic capture, circuit calculations, component placement, and track routing. 
• Interpretation of Statement of Requirements documentation.
• System-level hardware design and documentation.
• DC and High Voltage AC design.
• Integration with software systems.
• Release hardware designs, including production files, Bill Of Material (BOM) and drawings.
• All designs must address typical automotive considerations such as minimizing cost, assembly, serviceability, durability, vibration, temperature, minimizing parasitic current draw, etc.
• FMEAs maintained and completed.
• Able to facilitate discussions with suppliers and customers.
• Resolution of supplier Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design For Test (DFM), PFMEA, BOM issues.
• Support the creation and execution of component and vehicle-level DVPR test plans.
• Take ownership and execute all assigned project development activities. This may include taking overall responsibility for assigned projects.
• On assigned projects, act as a key interface between engineering, other lumen departments, suppliers and customers with respect to project deliverables.
• Communicate with suppliers, customers, management and other departments in a timely and effective manner.

What you'll need:

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics or equivalent.
• Experience working in the automotive industry.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with hardware design, including schematic capture, circuit calculations, component placement, and track routing.

R&D Engineering Workshop Technician

What you’ll do:

• Assist in the ownership of the garage-workshop workspace to ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Ensure procedures related to the garage are completed and enforced.
• Operate workshop fabrication machinery, including operation and maintenance of Mill, Break Press, Laith, 3D Printers & Laser Cutting machines.
• Utilize CAD software to assist in the fabrication and production of Engineering Samples and prototypes.
• Assist the engineering department in fit-up vehicles and produce samples and test fixtures.
• Vehicle level fitments of engineering or production samples.
• Fabrication of test jigs, fixtures and sheet metal prototypes as required.
• Ownership of the garage-workshop environment.
• Complete and enforce work procedures associated with the garage/workshop.
• Ensure tools & equipment are kept in an orderly manner and replaced or repaired when necessary.
• Manage vehicle movements in and out of the garage, including completing vehicle inspection reports for all vehicles received and sent.

What you’ll need:


• Engineering experience preferred but not mandatory
• Experience using CAD software – NX, CATIA &/or Solid Works preferred but not mandatory
• Trade qualification – fitter & turner, motor mechanic, auto electrician or similar.
• Excellent capability to dismantle and reassemble vehicles.
• Ability to create metal parts from engineering drawings.
• Ability to use workshop machinery such as a milling machine, sheet metal guillotine, break press and Laser Cutter.

• Experience leading a small to mid-size software team.
• Strong working knowledge of embedded C including software component development across multiple architectural layers.
• Demonstrated leadership of embedded software development projects from acquisition to production.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the traditional software development lifecycle as well as agile methods including ISO26262 and Cybersecurity.
• Ability to tailor software architectures and development processes to suit specific situations.
• Experience with re-scoping (change management) a software project.
• Experience eliciting requirements with all stakeholders.
• Experience with Software Development toolchains (i.e., IBM Doors, Vector, Python scripting etc).
• Proven software estimation skills (cost, quality, and timing).
• Strong resource planning experience with demonstrated ability in refactoring with limited resources.

  • Ability to debug electronics during development (not someone who has always worked on mature hardened electronics) not afraid of a Oscilloscope, signal generator or probing electronics for issues. 
  • Bare metal / FreeRTOS on Stm32 is used predominantly however experience with Nordic NRF platform and UBLox cellular modules would be desirable.
  • Experience with GSP, cellular modules, micro controllers, low power applications (ultra low power), BLE, Wi-Fi, LoRa, Sdi12, 4-20mA loop, serial interfaces, displays, learning algorithms, IoT security, MQTT, contemporary IoT platforms (Azure and AWS products) etc.
  • Ability to communicate to clients on technical issues and options (not project management

  • Solid ability to estimate effort of a task in areas of new development.
