Systems Engineer

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the technical deliverables of projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. 

You will interacts with a diverse group of customers and internal groups (such as Sales, Engineering (Software, Hardware, Firmware and Testing), Production and Customer Service) to meet the projects technical requirements.

What you'll do:
  • Support the preparation of bids by analysing customer needs and proposing system design solutions including products, materials, manpower and time necessary to complete the works. Confirm company's ability to meet technical requirements for bids and new projects.
  • Analyse customer technical requirements, cascade requirements to engineering, production, installation (including sub-contractors) and customer service as necessary to complete the project. Ensure all technical deliverables are produced in accordance with those requirements.
  • Clarify and negotiate requirements and solutions with the customer, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements. Define system interfaces between the client’s system and company system. Support the Project Manager by preparing company response to variations due to scope change.
  • Design and implement the onboard and back-office network infrastructure to support system requirements including the required bandwidth for the number of cameras and network video recorders, frame rates per second, image quality and remote download/retrieval etc.
  • In conjunction with the Project and Product Engineers ensure that the detailed system designs meet the functional requirements.
  • Develop system designs that can be produced economically and supported throughout the life cycle whilst meeting the customer needs.
  • Defining and executing tests to validate new or enhanced products meet the functional requirements as determined by the customer needs. Write system acceptance procedures and support commissioning activities when required.
  • Working with engineering, testing, production and customer service, identify technical risk which may impact project timescales or project deliverables.
  • Support in establishing practices, templates, policies and tools to expand and mature the Systems Engineering capabilities within the business.
  • Develop tools to allow repeatable analysis of customer requirements against company’s product functionality (e.g. CCTV footage retention requirements vs recorder storage capacity).
What you'll need:
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in an IT, electronic, systems engineering or technology discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role (2 to 5 years)
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work under pressure, think analytically and communicate effectively.
