Senior Embedded Engineer (Hardware + Firmware)

Job Location: Adelaide, SA

Here’s the deal

We’ve built the first product of its kind for live sport already in stadiums, already generating revenue, and scaling fast. Now we need a hands-on engineer who can own the next hardware + firmware release end to end.

What you’ll tackle
  • Take charge of the MCU-based design: schematics, layout, bring-up, test.
  • Drive low-level C development, from board support through to production firmware.
  • Work with founders and field teams to turn game-day feedback into rock-solid features without slipping the schedule.
  • Keep the design docs tidy, the risk list honest, and the build pipeline humming.
Must-haves
  • 5–10 + years shipping embedded products that made it to paying customers.
  • Comfort wearing both hats, electronics design and C firmware.
  • A habit of spotting trade-offs early and calling them out in plain English.
  • Happy to follow a formal process when it matters, and to sprint when the clock is ticking.
  • Deadline-driven, “let’s just get it done” mindset.
  • On-site presence (Adelaide) – this hardware doesn’t debug itself over Zoom.
Nice-to-haves
  • You’ve delivered under tight broadcast or live-event timelines.

  • You like mentoring juniors and leaving a trail of clear docs behind you.
Why join
  • Structured bonus: ~AUD 5 k each year for meeting the plan.
  • Upside: uncapped discretionary rewards—our last big push saw the team pocket AUD 20 k each.
  • Direct line to the founders, zero corporate layers, and the thrill of seeing your work on screen before the final whistle.
Sound like you?

Ping me a quick note or your CV and let’s chat. No drawn-out forms, just a straightforward conversation to see if the fit is right.

Computer Vision Engineer (C++)

Job Location: Melbourne, Victoria

We’re pushing the boundaries of what machines can see and understand and we need a Computer Vision Engineer who loves solving hard problems from first principles. If you’re the type who’d rather design novel algorithms than just call pre-built libraries, this role is for you.

You’ll develop high-performance, real-time vision systems, writing optimized C++ code that processes and interprets visual data at the edge. No off-the-shelf solutions you’ll build custom perception pipelines alongside world-class AI and engineering teams.

The Work

- Design and implement cutting-edge computer vision algorithms optimized for speed, reliability, and real-world deployment.

- Build low-latency C++ pipelines for processing sensor data in dynamic environments.
- Integrate deep learning models into real-time vision systems, bridging the gap between research and production.
- Tackle challenges like SLAM, 3D reconstruction, object tracking, or multi-camera systems your expertise shapes the tech.
- Stay ahead of the curve by applying (or inventing) the latest advances in CV and ML.

You’re the Right Fit If You Have

- Expert-level C++ you write fast, clean, and maintainable code for performance-critical systems.
- Hands-on experience developing CV algorithms (not just using OpenCV as a black box).
- A strong grasp of computer vision fundamentals: image processing, feature extraction, geometric vision, etc.
- A track record of solving tough technical problems—whether from academia, robotics, or industry.

Bonus Points For
- Experience with SLAM, sensor fusion, or embedded vision systems.
- Knowledge of deep learning for perception (detection, segmentation, etc.).
- A PhD or research background in CV/ML—though we care more about what you can build than your credentials.

Why Join?
- Work on challenging, impactful problems your code will power real-world perception systems.
- Collaborate with top-tier engineers no red tape, just hard technical work.
- Hybrid flexibility based in Port Melbourne, with competitive salary + equity.

If you’re ready to build vision systems that operate at the edge literally apply now.

Senior Electronics Engineer

Job Location: Perth, Western Australia

Looking for Your Next Big Challenge?

We’re a team working on some seriously cool medical tech – and we’re on the lookout for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join us and take the reins on the electronics side of things.

This isn’t just a “job” – you’ll be the one making the call on everything from design to compliance to working with our awesome cross-functional crew (think software folks, mechanical whizzes, and even the chemists).

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Owning the design and delivery of our electronics systems – no hand-holding, just you driving the show.
  • Working with teams across the board – software, hardware, external partners – to make sure everything just works.
  • Making sure we tick all the boxes for quality and safety (ISO 13485, IEC 60601 – the works).
  • Troubleshooting, guiding junior engineers, and helping us level up as a team.

Key Areas We’re Curious About (and hope you are too!):

  • Have you tackled analog circuit design, especially in biosignal acquisition like ECG?
  • How have you approached designing circuits for both ECG signal capture and chronoamperometry using shared electrodes?
  • Worked on low-noise, low-power analog front-end designs for medical devices? How did you minimize noise and power?
  • Designed boards that simultaneously capture ECG signals and perform chronoamperometry? How did you deal with interference?
  • Tell us how you’d handle signal processing and filtering for biosignals and electrochemical measurements.
  • Familiar with ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and ISO 14971? How have you put those standards into practice?
  • What’s your experience with safety and regulatory considerations for wearable or implantable medical devices?
  • In embedded systems, how have you designed firmware to juggle data acquisition and processing at the same time?
  • Faced any tricky troubleshooting moments on complex PCBs or multi-functional devices? How’d you crack them?
  • Ever designed testing jigs for PCBs? We’d love to hear about it!

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in electronic system design (bonus points if it’s in medical devices or other regulated industries).
  • Solid skills in analog/digital circuit design, embedded systems (RTOS, bare metal, the lot).
  • Pro with Altium, JIRA, GitHub – and a big believer in doing things the right way.
  • Collaborative, easy to talk to, and calm under pressure.

Why You Might Like It Here:

We’re a bunch of engineers, scientists, and makers who believe in getting things done – without the corporate nonsense. If you’re the kind of engineer who’s itching to tackle the toughest challenges in medical tech – and actually own the design from start to finish – this is your shot.

Sound good? Shoot me a email at lance@runtimerec.com or just give me a ring on 0485 988 808 – let’s chat!
