We’re on the hunt for a Senior Embedded Controls Engineer to design and test cutting-edge solutions using a Model-Based Design framework.

Location: Melbourne, Victoria

What you’ll do:

• Develop safety-compliant software components that translate system engineering specifications and requirements into robust designs.
• Implement these designs within a Model-Based Design framework, ensuring scalability and precision.
• Create and execute unit tests while contributing to the development of a comprehensive testing framework in a Simulink environment, including plant modeling.
• Conduct rigorous testing of software components using Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) methodologies.
• Engage in the complete system and software development lifecycle, from concept and design to integration, testing, and deployment in vehicles.

What you’ll need:

• Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering (BS/MS) or equivalent practical experience focused on controls engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience, ideally in automotive or similar domains.
• Strong background in safety-critical software development and risk assessment techniques like FMEA.
• Advanced proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for Model-Based Design workflows and plant model simulations.
• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with fluency in English.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience with vehicle dynamics, motion control, or ADAS systems.
• Skilled in agile workflows for efficient and iterative development.
• Knowledge of ISO-26262 and ASPICE standards is highly desirable.
• Proficient in embedded C/C++ programming for real-time systems.
• Strong capabilities in data analysis and interpretation.
• Familiar with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet, I2C, and SPI.
